The Pupil Of The Eye
Cultural, Learning & Visitor
Center & Community Garden

A neighborhood community center and community garden located in Birmingham's 'Sherman Heights', solely dedicated to the moral, spiritual and cultural upliftment of humanity through programs, projects, and events in neighborhood communities with a focus on children and junior youth character development, virtues training, and esteem building, and youth spiritual and cultural value awareness and empowerment.

Our aim is to explore community building processes, primarily in African American neighborhoods, to foster a healthy attitude toward communal learning and active service using Baha'i principles and the Ruhi Institute course study and training and ongoing community projects where teaching and service work is shared in neighborhoods by active adult members & their families.

The Pupil of the Eye Center, or "The Pupil Center" as we affectionately call it, is open to visitors who desire to come serve and is available for lodging by reservation. The modest, quaint cottage sleeps 6 and is located directly opposite The Sherman Heights Community Park, a beautiful well-maintained neighborhood park with picnic tables, grilling facilities, tennis courts, basketball courts, soccer field, and a well-equipped outdoor play facility for children.

We are happy to report that we are now operating out of "The Pupil Place" building in Bessemer, AL where we are in

planning to form teaching teams to explore the "Southside Homes" project community as our new focus community.
